Know your Dog better...

Dog Boarding- The necessity of obtaining a good dog boarding

Dog Boarding Kennels are springing up everywhere. And with the ever growing need to boardings for dogs, the number will surely go up. But not all dog boarding kennels are as per the required standards of quality. You do not want to risk your dog getting sick or being unhappy.

Please read our page on dog boarding for detailed information on pet boarding for dogs. While deciding on which one suits you and your dog best, please find out as much as possible about the dog boarding to prevent future disturbances. Here are some important questions that will help you cover all details:

  • Where will my pet stay?
  • Will there be another animal with my dog in the cage or while exercising?
  • Does the kennel have separate areas for small dogs and big dogs?
  • How often will the dogs’ be taken out, for how long and where?
  • Are additional walks or playtime provided for with an additional fee?
  • What will my dog be fed and how often? Will he have an individual food/water bowl?
  • Will I be allowed to bring my dogs’ favorite food, toy or his bed?
  • Does the kennel staff fully understand my pet’s dietary and medical needs?
  • How often will my dog be bathed? Will there be an additional fee for this?
  • Will somebody be staying with the animals during the night?
  • What is the kennel's practice regarding the immunization of pets prior to boarding?
  • What is the kennel's policy regarding parasites and will my pet be safe from these parasites?
  • How does the kennel obtain veterinary help when needed?
  • How would the pet boarding kennel handle a medical emergency?
  • If my dog requires medication, will the kennel cooperate and document any medication administered to my pet?
  • Is the kennel affiliated with any state or national pet care organizations?

You will feel better leaving your dog behind if you know that your dog is well-looked after. You can concentrate on that business meeting much better or enjoy your holiday better- so although dog boarding may be expensive, it gives you peace of mind. If you choose to leave your dog with a relative or a friend, you need to ensure that enough is known about dog care and if they have a dog of their own, check if the required vaccines, etc. have been administered.
